We strive to realise the goal of Safe Drinking Water being available to every Indian.


For us, it isn't just about building wells, installing tube wells and setting up pumps, we're looking to create an awareness of optimum water use and conservation with long-lasting water infrastructure by talking to local community members, governments, and other stake holders, to find out how they live and what they need to feel healthy, safe, empowered, and successful. We're designing solutions based on long-term needs and long lives. We don't want to be around forever, but we want these systems and services to last for generations to come

A vast population of nearly 1.2 billion people who do not have access to safe drinking water , are poor and can not reach or afford the safe or treated and purified drinking water which are available only for a selected coverage of population or at a high commercial cost . “ Safe water of the People ” established by Dr. Dipankar Adhya , striving to reach and serve these poor and needy to empower them with better quality of life.

For Dr. Dipankar Adhya's dedication to serve the needy & poor , he was blessed by and close to Mother Teresa.

Dr. Dipankar always worked selflessly for the poorest of the poor & needy and this brought him closer to Saint Mother Teresa.

The global situation:

  • Less than 2.5% of the world’s water is fresh – the rest is seawater and undrinkable.
  • of this 68.7 % i.e. nearly 1.72% is frozen, locked up in Antarctica, the Arctic and glaciers, and not available to man.
  • Thus humanity must rely on this 0.78% for all of man’s and ecosystem’s fresh water needs.

Where is this 0.78 % of fresh water?

  • Ground Water
  • Surface water in Lakes,Rivers,Ponds, and Ground Ice etc.

Factors considered for Water Loss Reduction

  • Majority of Rural Population directly or indirectly connected to Agriculture where 91% of total water are used. 
  • Water quality are fast deteriorating in urban & rural area due to over extraction.
    •  
  • Rampant installation of R.O. based water purifications in rural areas have detrimental effect on water quality for present and future and amounts to huge water loss.  
  • Inorganic contamination posing a very high risk and having serious negative impact on medical, financial & Social position of the people.

Effects of Water Contaminations on Human Health

WATER-RELATED DISEASES RESPONSIBLE FOR 80 PER CENT OF ALL ILLNESSES, DEATHS IN DEVELOPING WORLD’, Says Secretary-General Kofi Annan for World Environment Day, 5 June 2003:

One person in six,lives without regular access to safe drinking water. Over twice that number -- 2.4 billion people -- lack access to adequate sanitation. Water-related diseases kill a child every eight seconds, and are responsible for 80 per cent of all illnesses and deaths in the developing world –- a situation made all the more tragic by our long-standing knowledge that these diseases are easily preventable.

Certain chemicals can harm human health when present in water in high enough concentrations. People are exposed to these chemicals when they drink the water. They are also exposed when eating seafood from contaminated waters since these chemicals can accumulate in the bodies of fish and shellfish and other creatures live in water.

Contaminations of these natures when present in water and when used in Irrigation,then these inorganic contamination also enter the food chain like in paddy , maize , fruits etc. These again transported beyond the known zones of contamination and affects the living being, without any limit of geographical boundary, who consumes it .

The presence of contaminants in water can lead to adverse health effects, including gastrointestinal illness, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders. Infants, young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people whose immune systems are compromised because of AIDS, chemotherapy, or transplant medications, may be especially susceptible to illness from some contaminants

Jamuria Block in Ranigunge area mainly a coal mine belt in Burdwan District.When there is critically in handling huge amount of ground water wastage due to open cast mining process.Its handling is critical and require specifif treatment due to its high inorganic contamination.BDO of Jamuria Block took keen interest in addressing this issue along with the issue of servere drinking water scarcity.
Safe Water Of The People were invited to explore providing solutions to these proble related to optimum utilization of water from reduction of water loss point of view and providing safe drinking water.
